I am/was a resident of this facility
I’m in a nursing home called Hemet Hills Post Acute. I get physical therapy here. I kind of like it. I like that I could go outside, and that I got a lot of freedom. There are a lot of activities that they have for us. It keeps us busy. Family gets to visit, but my family are in Murrieta, so my goal is to try and move closer to them. This is at least 25 miles in each direction, so they can only stay for a short time, and then they have to go. It’s a drivable distance, and it’s not like they have to leave the day before or stay overnight or something, so that’s kind of nice.
The food is something to be desired. It’s a cafeteria-style food. I don’t care for it a lot. The people working here are fantastic. They’re really great. However, mostly their proteins and vegetables were overcooked. Some of the sides were undercooked. It’s pretty nasty. By the time I get back from dialysis, my breakfast is cold. So I have cold scrambled eggs or cold poached eggs. It is just unpalatable. They’re not very appetizing.
The facility is very clean. They maintain it pretty well. The staff is really on top of things. If I need maintenance or something, they come right away. If there’s anything with my bed or my wheelchair, they come and fix it right away, so that’s nice. We have several patios where I can go outside when the weather is nice. It’s gated, so we have some privacy. We have two gymnasiums that help with physical therapy. It’s really nice. The staff is wonderful as well.
They have several activities. They have live entertainment once a month. They have several games, but I don’t participate in them because I’m blind. They have karaoke and other good stuff like that. People are available to play card games, board games, and the like. They have access to the internet. So if there are shows I would like to watch, I call them up on my tablet. It’s the same with music; I call it up on the tablet. They’re pretty good. They usually throw some kind of party for holidays, the same thing with Christmas and New Year’s.
